The Jungle Culture company strongly believes that businesses should bear the responsibility to ensure that their products are made ethically. They have created an ethical supply chain, powered by small farms, craft workshops and transparent factories. Part of their philosophy as an ethical business is to empower and support developing communities by working together to create environmentally friendly, unique plastic-alternatives. This is why they take a hands-on approach to product sourcing and build deep relationships with their team of craftsmen and women. When they design and create their sustainable products, they take the time to visit the farms and workshops that manufacture them first, oversee their operation and ensure that everything is created fairly, while minimizing waste.
The Jungle Culture cutlery sets are hand carved at a carpentry studio located approximately 150km from Hanoi, in the rural province of Thanh Hoa. The topography of Thanh Hoa province makes it the perfect location for bamboo growth. Large swathes of the region are covered in steep, rocky mountains and the annual rainfall average in Thanh Hoa sits at around 70 inches. This unique ecosystem in Thanh Hoa means that bamboo can grow in abundance, and can be sustainably farmed by local people who have used it for construction and handicrafts for generations.
The Jungle Culture team partnered with a group of talented artisan craftspeople committed to supporting ethical and organic production and use only basic tools to aid the creation of their products. The owner of the farm and craft workshop that produces these cutlery sets is called Le Xuan Ha or "Ha" for short which means river in Vietnamese. He is a naturist and lives in a compound of 5 bamboo houses that he helped build, surrounded by mountains. The popularity of the hand-carved utensil sets has prompted Há to employ and train his family, friends and several other villagers. Providing them with jobs and skills while he has turned his focus to building bamboo houses which serve as accommodation for members of the local community.
Há treats his workers with respect and pays them fairly. He now employs between 5-10 people who carve cutlery and help with the construction of his bamboo houses. The pouches that house the sets are hand sewn by a group of seamstresses in Hoi An, Vietnam.

Bamboo Reusable Straw

Looking for a great functioning plastic straw alternative? Bamboo is one of the best materials for reusable straws. Small size is perfect for cocktails and sodas, medium is best for milkshakes and juice, large is great for Boba tea and smoothies!
Help beat plastic pollution with bamboo that is 100% Organic, sustainably harvested and handcrafted by small family farms in rural Vietnam with a safe and non-toxic process.
These reusable bamboo straws are an eco-friendly and sustainable solution to plastic, made without the need for any harmful pesticides or chemicals. They are grown and handcrafted in rural Vietnam. Fully biodegradable and 100% organic.
How to clean Bamboo Straws:
1) We advise people to boil their bamboo straws in a little salt and vinegar before using them for the first time. This helps to remove any residue, or remove any ‘woody’ aroma.
2) After each use, rinse your plant based drinking straws under the tap and every so often clean the inside using a cleaning brush. You can even put your Jungle Straws in the dishwasher, but make sure to switch off the hot & dry function and dry them immediately. Easy? We told you so!
3) Always allow your bamboo straws to dry fully but fear not; they dry very quickly! Store your straws in a well-ventilated place, and never in air-tight containers or jars.
4) Aside from keeping your Jungle Straws dry, keep them well-ventilated as well.
Tip: Leaving your Jungle Straws to dry naturally in sunlight turns your straws into a bright shade of golden yellow!
- These Bamboo Straws are produced by Jungle Straws, a socially responsible company that manufactures and supplies SGS certified, food safe bamboo straws and eco-friendly products that promote sustainable living. Since the beginning, Jungle Straws has worked to support, educate, and inspire individuals and businesses of all kinds to make the switch to reusable and zero waste alternatives in order to reduce the devastating effects that single-use plastic pollution is having on our planet. They oversee all aspects of the manufacturing and supply chain operations in person, including the source of the raw materials in Vietnam and work to build ethical relationships with the artisans with whom they work alongside.
- Jungle Straws proudly challenges modern production techniques that place too much emphasis on profit at the expense of people and our environment. Their values in eco-sustainability are not just about how cheaply a product can be manufactured. Instead, it is of great importance that their bamboo straws are sourced responsibly, using natural and organic materials. This limits waste throughout the entire production process, and helps to support local communities in rural areas. Their farms and workshops use sustainable bamboo and natural materials, grown responsibly in Vietnam. During the harvest and production phase, no chemicals are used. Their bamboo is cultivated organically, without the need for any harmful fertilizers or pesticides, and so growing it doesn’t contribute to any unwelcome elements entering ground-water.
- Why use bamboo? Not only does it look and feel great, but it is 100% sustainable, fully biodegradable, and can be harvested in as little as 3-5 years. Bamboo releases 35% more oxygen into our atmosphere and absorbs more carbon dioxide when compared to other plants. Jungle Straws reusable alternatives and zero waste swaps help reduce the heart-breaking and saddening use of plastic and single use plastic items, which are contributing to the demise of wildlife and ocean habitats all around the world. These bamboo straws have been independently tested in order to comply with The European Framework Regulation (EC) 1935 / 2004 and hold the associated SGS certifications for food contact materials.
- EU Regulation 1935/2004 covers all food contact materials and articles which are intended to come into contact with food. The regulation ensures that food contact materials do not threaten human health, or change the composition, odor, or taste of the food product.
- SGS Certified. SGS is recognized as the global benchmark for quality and integrity. SGS inspects, tests, certifies, and verifies that products comply with global standards and local regulations and covers the entire supply chain from raw materials to final consumption.

How to Care for your Jar Lids.
Regularly re-treating your lid with mineral oil will prevent splintering and/or discoloring and preserve the beauty of the wood. You can wash your lid with a little soap and warm water. If your lid has stains or smells, you can use lemon juice or white vinegar directly on the area. The acid in these liquids will neutralize the organic material or fats causing the problem. If your lid has a silicone seal remove it, so you can properly clean underneath. After washing, dry your lid immediately and let it air dry. When the lid is thoroughly dry, generously apply food-grade mineral oil. Let it sit for a while (over night would be great) and wipe off the excess with a clean towel. If necessary re-install the silicone seal. Please note that we do not recommend natural oils such as vegetable, corn, olive, peanut or walnut oil, as these are rich in fats that will eventually oxidize and go rancid, creating a foul smelling lid.
