The Jungle Culture cutlery sets are hand carved at a carpentry studio located approximately 150km from Hanoi, in the rural province of Thanh Hoa. The topography of Thanh Hoa province makes it the perfect location for bamboo growth. Large swathes of the region are covered in steep, rocky mountains and the annual rainfall average in Thanh Hoa sits at around 70 inches. This unique ecosystem in Thanh Hoa means that bamboo can grow in abundance, and can be sustainably farmed by local people who have used it for construction and handicrafts for generations.
The Jungle Culture team partnered with a group of talented artisan craftspeople committed to supporting ethical and organic production and use only basic tools to aid the creation of their products. The owner of the farm and craft workshop that produces these cutlery sets is called Le Xuan Ha or "Ha" for short which means river in Vietnamese. He is a naturist and lives in a compound of 5 bamboo houses that he helped build, surrounded by mountains. The popularity of the hand-carved utensil sets has prompted Há to employ and train his family, friends and several other villagers. Providing them with jobs and skills while he has turned his focus to building bamboo houses which serve as accommodation for members of the local community.
Há treats his workers with respect and pays them fairly. He now employs between 5-10 people who carve cutlery and help with the construction of his bamboo houses. The pouches that house the sets are hand sewn by a group of seamstresses in Hoi An, Vietnam.

Insects and plants will have no trouble breaking them down.

N.S. How many times have you been stuck having to use plastic cutlery when you didn't want to use it? This wooden cutlery is just the ticket! We keep one set in the glove compartment of our car for easy use. As well, I keep one set in my backpack when traveling. If your lid has stains or smells, you can use lemon juice or white vinegar directly on the area. The acid in these liquids will neutralize the organic material or fats causing the problem. If your lid has a silicone seal remove it, so you can properly clean underneath. After washing, dry your lid immediately and let it air dry. When the lid is thoroughly dry, generously apply food-grade mineral oil. Let it sit for a while (over night would be great) and wipe off the excess with a clean towel. If necessary re-install the silicone seal. Please note that we do not recommend natural oils such as vegetable, corn, olive, peanut or walnut oil, as these are rich in fats that will eventually oxidize and go rancid, creating a foul smelling lid.

These reusable bamboo straws are an eco-friendly and sustainable solution to plastic, made without the need for any harmful pesticides or chemicals. They are grown and handcrafted in rural Vietnam. Fully biodegradable and 100% organic.
How to clean Bamboo Straws:
1) We advise people to boil their bamboo straws in a little salt and vinegar before using them for the first time. This helps to remove any residue, or remove any ‘woody’ aroma.
2) After each use, rinse your plant based drinking straws under the tap and every so often clean the inside using a cleaning brush. You can even put your Jungle Straws in the dishwasher, but make sure to switch off the hot & dry function and dry them immediately. Easy? We told you so!
3) Always allow your bamboo straws to dry fully but fear not; they dry very quickly! Store your straws in a well-ventilated place, and never in air-tight containers or jars.
4) Aside from keeping your Jungle Straws dry, keep them well-ventilated as well.
Tip: Leaving your Jungle Straws to dry naturally in sunlight turns your straws into a bright shade of golden yellow!

Jeff Ivey I needed a jar for pickling 8 eggs. The 1 liter Le Parfait jar was the perfect size for my needs. The quality of the jar was excellent and made everything easy. I also wanted to pickle a watermelon but unfortunately, Le Parfait doesn't make a jar that size.
