Extra Tip*

HOW TO SOFTEN A CONDITIONER BAR.
Place one conditioner bar inside a lidded container.
Fill with a few ounces of water to cover the bar, let sit for 24 hours, flipping over half way through for each side of the bar to soak up water.
The bar will plump up in size and will be soft, like the texture of cream cheese.
The more water you use, the larger and softer the bar gets.
After the initial soak, you can easily adjust the water to bring the bar to a softness you like best.
Use a container that is wider than the bar to accommodate the increase in bar size and for you to be able to easily remove it once softened.
This bar will last you for months, even with regular use.
- Leaping Bunny Certified. An internationally recognized cruelty-free certification, which requires that companies pledge to end animal testing at all stages of product development. Even the supply chain must be checked for animal testing right down to the ingredient manufacturer level. Companies must recommit yearly and be open to third-party audits.
- Tangie is a Green America Certified Business. Companies with this certification are committed to using business as a platform for positive social change. Green businesses adopt principles, policies and practices that improve the quality of life for their customers, employees, communities, and the planet.
- SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES FREE These are exempt from labeling requirements and regarded as “trade secrets”. There is no way to determine what the individual ingredients are, and may include phthalates. These have been linked with the aggravation of asthma, headaches, allergic reactions and possible long term central nervous system disorders.
- NO PARABENS
Found in many cosmetics as a preservative. Suspected links between parabens and breast cancer. Be sure to avoid deodorant containing parabens since it’s applied close to the breast area, every day for many, many years. - SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE (SLS)/SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES) FREE
There are nearly 16,000 studies in the PubMed science library about the toxicity of this chemical that can be found on the SLS page on Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) website. It is present in nearly all shampoos, scalp treatments, hair color and bleaching agents, toothpaste, body washes and cleansers, make-up foundations, liquid hand soaps, and laundry detergents. Although SLS originates from coconuts, the chemical is anything but natural. - 1,4-DIOXANE FREE
Any discussion of SLS/SLES must include a discussion of 1,4 dioxane because the manufacturing process of SLS/SLES results in its being contaminated with 1,4 dioxane—a known carcinogen. (NOT to be confused with Dioxin) - PROPYLENE GLYCOL FREE
Primarily used as a solvent and an aid to absorption through the skin. The main concerns are that this material may be a primary skin irritant and there are possible links to liver abnormalities and kidney damage. - NO TRICLOSAN
Primarily added to cosmetics as an anti-bacterial agent. It belongs to a class of chemicals known as chlorophenols and is suspected of causing cancer in humans. - TALC FREE
Sometimes used in deodorants for its ability to absorb moisture and provide a “smooth” feel under the arms. Because of the particle size, it may “block” the underarm pores producing the effect of an antiperspirant. Talc is closely related to the potent carcinogen asbestos. Talc particles have been shown to cause tumors in the ovaries and lungs of cancer victims. http://www.preventcancer.com/consumers/cosmetics/talc.htm - ZERO PHOSPHATES
Phosphorous is like a fertilizer in our water system. As it Increases algae and aquatic weed growth, the oxygen needed for healthy fish and aquatic life is depleted. - NO PETROCHEMICALS
The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found that 1/3 of the substances used in the fragrance industry are toxic. But because the chemical formulas of fragrances are considered trade secrets, companies aren’t required to list their ingredients but merely label them as containing “fragrance”. 95 percent of chemicals used in fragrance are from petroleum. This one word can contain many, many chemicals that don’t need to be listed and are likely endocrine disrupters. This is why these bars only use Essential Oils for scenting. - PLASTIC FREE
Shampoo and Conditioner bars are 100% plastic-free. No plastic wrapper, no plastic shipping.
ALL BARS ARE FREE OF USE OF THE INGREDIENTS LISTED BELOW.
Conditioner: Emulsifier blend (Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate), Cocoa Butter, Cetyl Alcohol, Coconut Oil, Glycerine USP, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Jojoba Oil. Purple Mica and French Lavender Essential Oil.

I love the shampoo bar. It lathers up easily, has a very pleasing floral aroma, and I’ve had consistently good hair days. The conditioner has been disappointing, as it barely lathers, and it leaves me feeling like I’m not getting any in my hair. But, in using both, as above, I’ve been happy with my hair, so I’ll be sticking with it.

I have several ecological market baskets and this one is my favorite. I use it to carry my wet laundry to the clothesline. One time it sat in some mud and I couldn't believe how easily it washed up ... it restored with no indication of soil or "reshaping." The leather handles and beautifully woven basket have endured two years of "ranch life" abuse. STRONGLY recommend for anyone who needs a functional, daily-used basket. This one is not only a strong one, but it's beautiful, too!

Trunk Set
I write a lot of letters and notes. The cards and envelopes in this set are beautifully crafted; it always makes me feel good to use such finely made paper. As well, the pen stand sits proudly on my desk (who can't use another container for pens?!). The notebook is a perfect size for travel, and the lovely box now holds other pieces of my finer stationary (also purchased from Ecological Market). This Trunk Set would be a lovely host/hostess gift as well as a smaller gift for the upcoming holidays.
Small Envelopes
I love these handmade envelopes. With the paper (or alone), they make a fantastic and welcome host/hostess gift.
Who doesn't appreciate handmade paper? I suggest a purchase that includes the dyed paper along with a set of envelopes. Your family and friends will think of themselves as sophisticated writers using these beautiful writing supplies!
Five stars for sure!!
